The Passage

At last the moment comes to see
What he has made
With a life so innocent as his
And become the man
He was asked to be
Unwavering

What is it to be a man?

Dissonance resounds.
Its the pounding of an African drum
Filling the void, a vast valley
Time to gird with gear for war
Get the spear, get the shield, get the little boy
For war him prepare.

What is strength?

In his chest the beat shakes
The core of confidence
No Father, or brother, stands near
To reassure the fear, run
From the sound before
The enemy comes.

What is it to do right?

He posits courage risking
Or should he stand ground
Didactically face the evil band
In Obscurity. Contradiction
Compounds a young man's mind
A resolution to decide

What is honor?

In this world encampment
Where but virtue lies hidden
Deprived of morality and justice due
To the wandering boys
For wisdom calls their name
Prick up one's ear

Oh Children of Jerusalem.

For he came down from heaven
Lived on earth our savior holy
And our eyes shall at last see him
Enthralled in eternal hope
For that child dear and tender
Is in Heaven called Lord
