The Passage

At last the moment comes to see
What he has made
With a life so innocent as his
And become the man
He was asked to be
Unwavering

What is it to be a man?

Dissonance resounds.
Its the pounding of an African drum
Filling the void, a vast valley
Time to gird with gear for war
Get the spear, get the shield, get the little boy
For war him prepare.

What is strength?

In his chest the beat shakes
The core of confidence
No Father, or brother, stands near
To reassure the fear, run
From the sound before
The enemy comes.

What is it to do right?

He posits courage risking
Or should he stand ground
Didactically face the evil band
In Obscurity. Contradiction
Compounds a young man's mind
A resolution to decide

What is honor?

In this world encampment
Where but virtue lies hidden
Deprived of morality and justice due
To the wandering boys
For wisdom calls their name
Prick up one's ear

Oh Children of Jerusalem.

For he came down from heaven
Lived on earth our savior holy
And our eyes shall at last see him
Enthralled in eternal hope
For that child dear and tender
Is in Heaven called Lord

Candor Entreaty

On my humbled knee
While time gives no rest
To her patrons tiresome
Like the lioness on hungry hunt
Relentless to her prey
I pray and seek and ask mercy
I ask that I might stay
In good graces with the heavenly
The gracious will of God
The favor of the Kingdom
Through out this penitent day

For all I walk and stake my soul
I hope in glory and victory
In this putrid sinful place
For all my doubts and ill attempts
At ethereal deliverance
I lay them at your feet
Grant me greater wisdom
Grant me greater peace
The days that now await
To live more honorably
Than latter strife which I now forsake

Pray Recrudescent

Ariving back in this room on my knees
Singing for your mercy dear God
Please save me from the sin I drink of
And the repititous nature of my prayers
FOr although I ask tares and weat, tares and wheat
Unseperated still, yet I eat once more
Only to repeat this prayer once more

I wonder if I take you honestly at your word
If I truly believe in what I ask
Or that my heart is false by a Cover
Of words meant only to deceive myself
Leaving a pinch of hypocrasy ringing
Haunting once more my prayers of old
No weight is left on my tongue made old

I refuse to be in a homeless state of mind
As if to expect a refusal again
And make my own words robbers of hope
Like a dope returns to his chamber cell
My Lord, my God, my everlasting Father
This is the time, this is the hour to hear
From your liberating power of which I could not hear

So here I am, my ears to hear.

Simon

He was a hopeless sight to see
Bloodied lying on the street
A poor man's body broken
Twisted terribly on the ground

All conceded under their breath
That death maybe won that day
Another life lost quietly
Nobody cares of course to care

There he was left alone to die
Victim of a hit and run
Breathless by the wayside dump
The moan of an animal cries

I wonder what his wife will wonder
When she's waiting by the door
Sitting, thinking, hoping for
Her fears to be lies, nothing more

But life is cruel to the suffering man
His economy destroyed
At once what was good now lost
His means in life became his end

Life. We prayed again to save him
As he bled in the car's belly
Then we prayed a second tour
Left him oh the hospital floor

What was it that God wanted with him
For miracle after miracle the situation grim
Gave up its hold and God's victory in
And life he granted to a nameless sinner.

From the Promontory

This is the year moving the distance
Each prayer after the morn coming
And closer a perfect timing still
Start beating the lone whisper howl
Sadly determined to believing
That scars even I thought would make
Me sure of myself and past mistakes
This is the year moving the distance
No different from any man’s opening
The grain around me for food
With lasting bright promises
Laying side that hopeless deceit
This is the year of chosen
I’ll try the more to tread
Decide to grow greater into
Oh giver of streams espouse
Yea Lord I saw you whence it came
Beyond the sea's head
I’m hungry from the depths below
For a year of musical consonance
